Last Sunday I was moved beyond words by the continuous flow of people who came through the doors of the UU Fellowship Building for the Fair Trade Faire. I am sending out my sincere appreciation to the residents of Harvard and the surrounding community. For the 11 regional nonprofit vendors supporting artisan cooperatives in developing countries, these are their busiest days. They devote the better part of the year curating and amassing their inventory only to spend a mere six weeks peddling it. Each fair, festival, and bazaar has to be worth it, and year after year they agree—request even—to be a part of ours. This wouldn’t be possible without your commitment to taking the time out of a busy Sunday (before or after the Artisans Gallery show and “The Little Mermaid JR” performance among many other events), as well as your belief in shopping your values. No one can argue that we as a town aren’t passionate about getting out there, supporting each other, and spending time with one another.
