The final tally on the UNICEF donations is as follows: 7,682 pennies (thanks mostly to Julia Clark!), 1,098 nickels, 1,812 dimes, 1,137 quarters, four silver dollars, and $351 in paper money (including seven $20 dollar bills) for a grand total of $952.17! This does not include the change from various countries, including China, Greece, France, Cayman Islands, etc., and one MBTA token. With an original goal of $400, I am proud that our town more than doubled that amount. Next year we will aim to raise over $1,000. If you still have a UNICEF box, you can donate through the Coinstar machine at Shaw’s supermarket in Groton (all proceeds go directly to UNICEF). Thanks again to everyone who donated.
