This week police made 22 traffic stops, which resulted in nine citations and 13 verbal warnings. The ambulance crew responded to seven medical emergencies and took five people to the hospital, three with Advanced Life Support on board; two declined transport to the hospital. One person called for permission for an agricultural fire. In addition, police fielded five calls about downed wires and trees in town and dispatched repair services accordingly. Tuesday, Oct. 27
At 10:04 a.m. an Oak Hill Road resident called with concerns about a loud banging sound she heard on the roof. The investigating officers were unable to locate the source of the noise. State police called at 4:17 p.m. to request that Harvard officers check on a Finn Road resident. Harvard police subsequently arrested Gabriela Ramirez, 20, of Waltham, on charges of assault and battery. A resident on Littleton County Road called at 5:32 p.m. to report that an unoccupied car with a hunting license in the window was parked on the property. At 7:41 p.m. a caller reported that a car with its lights on was parked and idling at the Bromfield School. It was gone when police arrived to investigate.
Wednesday, Oct. 28
A Shaker Road resident called at 4:47 p.m. to report that a contractor she hired to do some chimney work did not perform the work. The case is under investigation.
Thursday, Oct. 29
Someone stopped at the station at 10:34 p.m. to report a case of credit card fraud. At 1:53 p.m. someone went to the station to report a hit-and-run accident that allegedly occurred in the Dunkin’ Donuts parking lot on Oct. 13.
Friday, Oct. 30
At 2:31 a.m. Boxborough police requested assistance from Harvard officers at a traffic stop on Interstate 495. A Whitney Road resident called at 11:42 a.m. and reported finding two dogs in her yard. She said she would be holding the animals for the owners to claim. An Old Littleton Road resident called at 2:45 p.m. with concerns about an unfamiliar unoccupied vehicle parked on the lawn. An officer located the car’s owner, who said he was conducting work in the area. At 3:49 p.m. someone stopped at the station to turn in a found camera, which was later picked up by its owner. A West Bare Hill Road resident called at 9:08 p.m. with concerns about an unfamiliar vehicle parked in his driveway. He later canceled the call when he recognized the driver.
Saturday, Oct. 31
At 2:55 a.m. Ayer police called to request assistance from Harvard officers in responding to a noise complaint in Ayer. At 5:04 a.m. a 911 caller reported that a car had crashed into a tree near the Bromfield House. The driver was transported to the hospital by ambulance; the car was towed. Police issued a citation to the driver for failure to stay within marked lanes. At 11:13 a.m. police were called to an East Bare Hill Road home to mediate a family disturbance.
Sunday, Nov. 1
An officer on patrol at 3:06 a.m. stopped at the Prospect Hill overlook to advise the occupants of a car parked there that the area was closed at that hour and they were trespassing. At 10:59 a.m. a woman stopped at the station with two black Labrador retrievers she had found. An officer called the animals’ owners, and the woman remained with the dogs until the owners arrived to claim them. A 911 caller reported a power outage on East Bare Hill Road at 3:24 p.m. Police say a tree that was being cut went down the wrong way, taking wires with it and knocking out power on three roads. National Grid was called to restore electricity.
Monday, Nov. 2
Someone called at 7:46 a.m. to report seeing a man climbing through the window of a Depot Road residence. The investigating officer reported that the man was known to the home’s owner, who had asked the man to climb in and unlock the door, because she had forgotten her house keys. A resident on Mettacomet Path called at 1:20 p.m. to report a possibly rabid raccoon in the yard. The animal control officer was notified. A Depot Road resident called at 9:37 p.m. to report a possible eBay scam.
