This week police made 12 traffic stops, which resulted in four citations, seven verbal warnings, and one arrest. The ambulance crew responded to three medical emergencies and took two people to the hospital, one with Advanced Life Support on board; one person declined transport to the hospital. Two people called to request permission for an outdoor cooking fire; one person called for permission for an agricultural fire.
Tuesday, Oct. 20
An East Bare Hill Road resident called at 10:31 a.m. to report a case of credit card fraud. An Ayer Road resident called at 6:01 p.m. to report that earlier in the day he had discovered damage to his property that occurred sometime the previous evening; it appeared to have been caused by a large truck. The caller said there was damage to the lawn, and a large tree branch had been knocked down. State police called at 7:07 p.m. to advise that a car being driven erratically had exited Route 2 at Route 110-111 in Harvard. Harvard police did not locate the vehicle.
Wednesday, Oct. 21
A man called at 7:58 a.m. to notify police that he would be leaving a small trailer in the lot at the Ann Lees Road ballfield for a short period of time. An employee at Fruitlands Museum called at 9:23 a.m. to report a phone scam. At 9:45 a.m. a Littleton County Road resident called seeking advice on a civil matter. Someone stopped at the station at 2:22 p.m. to report a case of identity theft. A Brown Road resident called at 3:32 p.m. to report a wire down nearby. Verizon was called to replace the wire, which police say appeared to have been taken down by a passing truck. Someone stopped at the station at 3:37 p.m. to report receiving threats. Police investigated but could not substantiate the claim.
Thursday, Oct. 22
State police called at 6:36 p.m. to advise that a car being driven erratically had exited Route 2 at Route 110-111 in Harvard. Harvard police did not locate the vehicle.
Friday, Oct. 23
At 12:34 a.m. an officer stopped a vehicle on Still River Road after a random plate check showed an outstanding warrant for the driver, 26-year-old Marstons Mills resident Kathleen M. Lacasse, who was subsequently arrested.
Saturday, Oct. 24
An Old Mill Road resident called at 7:14 a.m. to report hearing gunshots nearby. An officer advised the caller that it was likely hunters in the area. A resident on Prospect Hill Road called at 8:29 a.m. to report that a bow hunter was on his property. Police found that a car displaying a hunting permit was parked by a nearby public access path and advised the homeowner accordingly. At 4:04 a.m. a Cleaves Hill Road resident called to report having found a yellow Labrador retriever at the Common, and told police the family would hold the dog until the owners could claim it. Boxborough police called at 7:14 p.m. seeking assistance from Harvard officers at the scene of an arrest at the Holiday Inn. A Still River Road resident called at 8:57 p.m. to report hearing gunshots nearby. Police checked the area but heard no gunshots. At 10:56 p.m. a Littleton County Road resident called to complain about a loud party in progress nearby. The officer who checked the area reported that all was quiet.
Sunday, Oct. 25
At 11:17 a.m. a caller reported seeing a bow hunter at the Oxbow National Wildlife Refuge. An officer checked the area but did not locate the hunter. The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service was notified.
Monday, Oct. 26
At 6:23 p.m. a caller advised that a drainpipe at McCurdy Track appeared to be a public safety issue.
