Sports program seeks volunteers, special athletes
Nashoba Unified Sports is now registering volunteers and special athletes for its soccer program, which matches athletes with special needs with student volunteers. This year’s program runs weekly sessions on Sundays through October, from 2:30 to 4 p.m., at Stow Community Park, Old Bolton Road. Participants may attend some or all of the sessions; students from all towns are welcome. Scout registration
Boys: The Harvard Cub Scouts will host registration for boys grades 1-5 and parents or guardians Tuesday, Sept. 29, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., at the library. For information go to www.scouting.org/scoutsource/CubScouts.

The Harvard Public Library will reopen on Fridays starting Friday, Sept. 18, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Consignment items needed
at Bargains in the Belfry
The Bargains in the Belfry consignment shop will open in early October and is looking for lightly used women’s and men’s clothing. Bargains is located in the belfry of the Harvard Unitarian Universalist Church across the parking lot from Town Hall. Booths available at Harvard Flea Market
The Harvard Flea Market—an annual fundraising event for the Harvard Schools Trust and the League of Women Voters of Harvard—will take place Saturday, Oct. 10. Harvard residents can rent a booth for the discounted rate of $50 for the day. Support this well-attended community event and clean out your attic or basement at the same time. Curriculum nights at HES
Curriculum night for parents of students in preschool, kindergarten, and first grade will take place Monday, Sept. 21; for parents of students in grades 2 and 5, Thursday, Sept. 24; and for parents of students in grades 3 and 4, Tuesday, Sept. 29. All nights will be held at Hildreth Elementary School from 6 to 7 p.m., starting in the cafeteria and ending in the classrooms. Harvard’s Parent Teacher Organization will be on hand to provide information and collect membership applications.
Cultural Council grant applications due Oct. 15
The Harvard Cultural Council (HCC) is accepting applications from organizations and individuals for local cultural council grants for fiscal year 2016 to support programs that bring cultural activity to the community. This year the HCC is especially interested in applications to support programs in the areas of community-oriented arts, humanities, and science projects. Grants are for program and project funding, not for salaries or capital equipment. Submissions must be postmarked by Oct. 15 and returned to the Harvard Cultural Council, 13 Ayer Road, Harvard, MA 01451.
