Hazardous waste disposal day
The Devens Regional Household Hazardous Waste Center will be open Saturday, July 11, from 9 a.m. to noon. The center is located at 9 Cook Street (rear), at Devens, 978-501-3943. The cost for disposal is $20 for up to five gallons of liquid or five pounds of powder and $40 for up to 10 gallons of liquid or 10 pounds of powder. Proof of Harvard residency is required, and cash is the preferred method of payment. For details, and to see which materials are accepted, go to www.devenshhw.com. The center will also be open from 9 a.m. to noon August 5 and 8, and Sept. 2 and 5.
Bike ride to benefit Healing Garden
Registration is now open for the Ride To Thrive, a bicycle event to benefit the Virginia Thurston Healing Garden that will take place Sunday, Sept. 13, at the Healing Garden, 145 Bolton Road. The Healing Garden is an independent not-for-profit organization that provides an integrative medical approach to cancer. The Healing Garden says that it “serves all without regard to gender, cancer diagnosis, or financial limitations.” Its revenue comes from individual donors, small grants, and special fundraising events such as the Ride To Thrive. Registration is $35, with an individual fundraising goal of $300. Participants must be 18 years of age or older.
