It was good to see the turnout and quality of discussion at our “Devens” Town Meeting. Before the meeting, I had voted to take a time out as there had been so little input from Harvard on these articles. Then the discussion at our Town Meeting was so good that I wound up voting for some of them and noticed other selectmen changing their votes as well.
At the last joint-boards meeting I complimented the Shirley selectmen for over the years figuring out what they want at Devens and working with Mass Development to get it. One of the Harvard selectmen’s goals this year is to begin to figure out what we want at Devens. If it reverts to Harvard someday, we will be glad we paid attention. If it does not, then it is the neighborly thing to do. This letter is my own and not meant to represent the Board of Selectmen.
