Super Town Meeting is June 8; voter registration closes Friday
Any Harvard resident who is not already registered to vote in town elections must do so by Friday, May 29, in order to vote in the June 8 Super Town Meeting. (Town meetings will be held on the same day in Ayer and Shirley; hence the “super” designation.) The town clerk’s office will hold special hours on Friday, May 29, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. to accommodate prospective voters. Harvard’s Super Town Meeting will be held Monday, June 8, at 7 p.m. at the Hildreth Elementary School cafeteria. The meeting will vote on four zoning changes proposed for Devens by MassDevelopment, the state agency responsible for developing the former Army base in the towns of Harvard, Shirley, and Ayer.
Democrats to elect delegates
Democrats in Harvard will hold a caucus Saturday, June 6, at 11 a.m. at the Harvard Congregational Church. They will elect three delegates and three alternates to the Massachusetts Democratic Convention, where delegates from across Massachusetts will gather to meet fellow activists and hear from elected officials. The convention will be held Saturday, Sept. 19, at the MassMutual Center in Springfield.
The June 6 caucus is open to all registered Democrats in Harvard, and the Democratic Committee welcomes participants. Delegates will be divided equally between men and women, and all ballots will be written and secret. In the spirit of inclusion, youth, minorities, and people with disabilities who are not elected as delegates or alternates may apply to be “add-on” delegates. Details on the rules are at www.massdems.org For more information, contact Dennis Bradley at DbinNE@aol.com
