Super Town Meeting voter registration closes May 29

Route 2 exit to be closed
The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDot) has announced that the Route 2 westbound exit to I-495 northbound ramp, Exit 40 B, will be closed for the next four months to facilitate construction. A signed detour using the Route 2/Taylor Street interchange (Exit 39) will be in place for motorists: drivers needing to use the restricted Route 2 westbound ramp will be directed to continue west on Route 2 to Exit 39 to reverse direction to follow Route 2 eastbound and then use Exit 40B to access I-495 northbound.
Girl Scout registration
Girl Scout registration for girls in grades kindergarten through 12 will take place at the Harvard Congregational Church Tuesday, May 26, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. and Thursday, June 4, from 3:15 to 4:30 p.m. Scouting offers girls the chance to hike, camp, make crafts, hang out with friends, go on field and overnight trips—all the while serving the community, developing confidence, and building leadership skills.
Both new and returning scouts must register for the fall 2015 season. The fee is $25 for each girl and $15 for each adult volunteer. For information, contact Janice at kennedyshome@charter.net.
Harvard 4th of July apparel available now
The Harvard 4th of July Committee will be selling T-shirts and hats in support of the town’s Independence Day events. The shirts and hats will be available at the Transfer Station every Saturday throughout May and June. To view the new Harvard 4th of July T-shirts and prices, go to www.harvard4thofjuly.com/store.
Parent volunteers needed for Field Day
The Hildreth Elementary School’s Field Day for grades kindergarten through 2 will take place Thursday, May 28, from 9 to 10:50 a.m. (rain date Monday, June 1). HES parent-helpers are still needed; contact Kristine at kstoff45@aol.com if you want to volunteer. Field Day for grades 3 to 5 will be held Tuesday, June 1 (rain date Thursday, June 4).
The school needs time to submit CORI forms for volunteers who haven’t yet gone through that process, so volunteers should sign up now by contacting Lisa at ldrosen22@aol.com.
Beach stickers available at town beach, online
The Harvard Parks and Recreation Commission has announced that the beach will be open during Memorial Day weekend, but it will not be staffed by lifeguards until June. Parking stickers are now available online and will also be available at the beach over the weekend.
