Bromfield girls’ track beat Oakmont at McCurdy Track on Thursday, May 14, by a score of 94–47. The team then went on to place second out of 20 teams at the annual District Class meet on Saturday, May 16, at Lunenburg with 97 points.

In the dual meet against Oakmont, Bromfield placed first in 12 of 17 events. The victory put Bromfield in place to win the title of league champions or co-champions with Lunenburg, depending on the team’s performance this week at the League meets.

At the District Class meet, Bromfield placed first in six events. In field events, senior Brianna Harte took first in discus with a distance of 113 feet, junior Amy Hunter placed first in triple jump at 35–0, and freshman Arielle Sclar took first in pole vault with a height of 9–0. In running events, freshman Chloe Alfieri placed first in both the 200-meter and 400-meter with times of 26.55 seconds and 1 minute 1.02 seconds, respectively. The 4×100-meter relay team won with a time of 51.61, beating the meet record.

In the end, the final placements came down to the relays. Littleton pulled ahead of Bromfield for first with a stellar performance by its 4×800 relay team, which competed at Nationals last year. However, Littleton moved up a division this year and is no longer in Bromfield’s league so this victory at Districts does not hurt Bromfield’s chances at winning the title of league champions.

After the District Class meet, Coach David Boisvert commented, “It was a very successful meet for us. We had multiple first-place finishers, and quite a few of them have already met the qualifying times for the bigger meets coming down the road.”

Bromfield was scheduled to compete in the League meet on May 20 and 21, with field events taking place on Wednesday and running events on Thursday.
