When people in a large group walk 5 miles carrying a wooden cross, they are conspicuous and a moving target for hurrying vehicles. Each year as parishioners from Holy Trinity Parish in Harvard and Bolton walk for Good Friday, the police from both towns provide assistance to the walkers. When our group crosses over the border into Bolton, there are two cruisers waiting to accompany us. Cars are redirected and sometimes asked to stop to wait. At the intersection with Route 117, Chief Alfano is out of his cruiser and watching the group. This ninth annual event has become an honored tradition in our church, made possible by our police departments. We thank Police Chiefs Alfano and Denmark for their assistance.
