At the Nashoba Regional High School, March 20, four teams from Harvard—two middle school and two elementary school teams—were awarded high honors among 61 teams representing Region 4 of the Massachusetts regional Destination Imagination tournament.
The core philosophy of Destination Imagination is “to inspire and equip students to become the next generation of innovators and leaders using the creative process.” Teams are guided by one or two team managers who help students with brainstorming exercises, improvisation skills, and instant challenge skills. Each team meets weekly starting in October or November and continually through the winter preparing for the spring tournament season. Awards for the Harvard teams are as follows:
Second place, elementary level, Fine Arts Challenge category. Feary Tales, Team Lightning Sparks: Siena Stanten, Asha Khurana, Amita Khurana, Sarah Burns, and Claire Kelley. Team manager was Wei Stanten.
Second place, elementary level, Technical Challenge category. Creature Feature, Team Baconaders: Julia Clark, Jasper Green, Lucas Alexander, Bella Munoz, and Hannah Dangel. Team managers were Tim Clark and Stacie Green.
Second place, middle school level, Technical Challenge category. Creature Feature, Team Jalapeno Swag Muffins: India Bartram, Sophie Bartram, Carter Curry, Allie Donahue, Joe Donahue, and Emily Douglas. The team manager was Elizabeth Curry.
