Monday movie
The Council on Aging will host “The Theory of Everything” Monday, March 16, at 1 p.m. in Volunteers Hall at the Harvard Public Library. Popcorn and water will be served. The movie tells the story of one of the world’s greatest living minds, the renowned astrophysicist Stephen Hawking, and his wife Jane. Stars Felicity Jones and the winner of this year’s Oscar for best actor, Eddie Redmayne.
Opportunity to vote on Hildreth House improvements
Parking and access improvements at Hildreth House will be up for a vote (Warrant Article 22) at Annual Town Meeting, Saturday, March 28, and at the Town Election, Tuesday, April 7. According to the Hildreth House Improvement Committee, Harvard’s senior center lacks safe, adequate parking and full access for anyone who cannot climb stairs. The warrant article asks for funding for the following improvements:
- Enclosed lift for full access to Council on Aging offices, computer lab, and upstairs meeting room
- Handicapped-accessible bathroom on second floor
- Re-grading and lighting for parking lot
- Four new handicapped-accessible parking spaces
- Porch extension and automatic door to increase accessibility
- Four accessible entries
Any senior who needs a ride to the Annual Town Meeting or to Town Election, both to be held at the Bromfield School, should call the Council on Aging at 978-456-4120 to reserve a seat on the van.
April trip to Providence
The Council on Aging will sponsor a trip to the Culinary Arts Museum at Johnson & Wales University in Providence, R.I., Tuesday, April 14. The museum’s extensive collection includes the first-class deck of the Queen Mary and the kitchen of the Little Chef Diner, to name only a few of the exhibits. Lunch will be at a restaurant in Federal Hill, Providence’s “Little Italy.” The van will leave Harvard at 8:30 a.m. Cost is $20, plus the cost of lunch. Payment is due March 31.
