Bromfield senior Casey Russell, who organized a food drive to benefit the Loaves & Fishes food pantry, has announced the winning side in a contest that she organized on Bolton Road. Pitting the odd- and even-numbered houses against each other in a friendly competition, Russell reports. “The odd-numbered houses took the cake and earned the title ‘The Better Side of Bolton Road.’” Russell delivered memos to each mailbox on the road, explaining the food drive and its creative twist on Friday, Jan. 23. Residents wishing to participate in the project hung grocery bags on their mailboxes, which Russell picked up. The winner of the competition was determined by the percentage of households from each side of the road who donated. In the end, Russell reports, the “odds” were easily the victors, with a 16.7 percent donation rate compared to a rate of 4.2 percent for the “evens.”
