Invasive sea creature makes a new home on town tree

December 19, 2014

Global warming came home dramatically last Sunday. My wife and I went out in the afternoon. We returned to our house on the Common about 10 p.m. to find a giant Portuguese man-of-war draped over the town Christmas tree, glowing an eerie blue, as if underwater. The next day its gelatinous tendrils hung almost to the ground. Much as I like and respect Paul Willard, I don’t think this is a job for the Animal Control Officer, but something must be done.
