Feelings of thanks and appreciation at HES Veterans Day

November 21, 2014

On Monday, Nov. 10, 2014, I was able to attend the ceremony at the Hildreth Elementary School to acknowledge the contributions of our veterans. I must say it was one of the most touching events of this nature that I have ever witnessed. The tone exhibited by the children towards the veterans in the hall was one of admiration, respect, and gratitude. The rendition of Taps by a fifth-grade student was excellent. The singing by the various grades was strong and clear. The table-setting ceremony by the kindergarten class was particularly poignant.

In this time of political polarization, it was quite refreshing to be at an event where the feelings of all in the room were of thanks and appreciation. Quite a learning experience for both the children and the adults.

Many thanks to the Hildreth Staff, especially Christine Reale, for orchestrating this event. Very well done.
