On Nov. 4 the voters of Harvard will have an opportunity to choose a new selectman to serve out the remaining 2 ½ years of the slot previously filled by Marie Sobalvarro. These are big shoes to fill and we need to choose wisely. Marie’s ability to make decisions based on the merits of the issue and to place politics aside set a decidedly positive tone for the Board of Selectmen.
Since her departure, I have been privileged to serve alongside our chairman, Stu Sklar, along with Lucy Wallace and Ron Ricci. Each of these members has put aside any political differences and focused time and energy toward a common goal, to serve the people of Harvard to the best of their ability. It has not always been easy but they have remained undeterred and remarkably resilient.
What the board needs now is a moderate voice, much like Marie’s, to assure that we remain focused on what is best for the town. That is why I urge you to join me in voting for Ken Swanton on Nov. 4.
