With all the issues facing our town and the challenges involved in serving on one of our elected boards, it was a very pleasant surprise for me to learn that Ken Swanton has decided to run for selectman. I have served with Ken on the Harvard Historical Commission, which he effectively chairs, and I have worked with him when I was a member of the Town Hall Building Committee. As a leader, Ken creates a cohesive and effective working atmosphere.
Ken has an ability to stay focused on the matter at hand, always with the objective of problem-solving in the most inclusive way. His many years of serving in Bolton as chair of the School Committee and the Planning Board have given him a deep understanding of what is involved in small town governance and what it takes to solve difficult and contentious issues.
Harvard would be very fortunate to benefit from Ken’s considerable experience and skills. I strongly recommend his election to the Board of Selectmen.
