Weekly grocery shopping
Every Friday the Council on Aging goes grocery shopping in Leominster or Westford, 8:30 to 11 a.m. The van picks you up so you don’t have to drive. Call Hildreth House at 978-456-4120 to reserve a place on the van. The fee is $2.

- Friday, Nov. 7: The COA will travel to the Boston Christmas at the Seaport World Trade Center for a fun-filled day that offers handcrafted products for sale, delicious foods, and Christmas decorations. You will also see the show’s Gingerbread House Competition, in which area restaurants and hotels participate. The cost is $20 per person, plus the cost of your lunch. The bus will leave Hildreth House at 11 a.m. Payment is due by Oct. 24.
Medicare presentation Oct. 22
Medicare open enrollment runs from Oct. 15 to Dec. 7; during that time, you can change your plan for next year. If you have a Medicare prescription drug plan or a Medicare advantage plan (HMO or PPO), you should receive a notice describing the changes for 2015 by the end of September. It is important to review and save this information.
On Wednesday, Oct. 22, at 10 a.m. at Hildreth House, you can learn more about your options by attending a presentation by Terry Morton from the state’s SHINE program. SHINE (Serving the Health Insurance Needs of Everyone) is a state health insurance assistance program that provides free health insurance information, counseling, and assistance to Massachusetts residents with Medicare and their caregivers.
