This week police made 12 motor vehicle stops, which resulted in two citations or written warnings and 10 verbal warnings.
Tuesday, June 24
The ambulance transported a person to the hospital from a doctor’s office on Ayer Road at 11:02 a.m. Another person was taken by ambulance to the hospital from a Park Lane residence at 7:40 p.m.
Wednesday, June 25
At 1:53 p.m. a Littleton Road resident called to file a police report after discovering that someone had used her Social Security number to apply for unemployment benefits. The case is under investigation by the Massachusetts Department of Unemployment Assistance. At 11:45 p.m. a resident on Cross Street called with concerns about an unfamiliar car in the area. Police did not locate the vehicle.
Thursday, June 26
At 9:13 a.m. a cell-phone caller reported observing a minivan being driven erratically on Littleton Road and said that it had pulled off the road into a driveway. Police did not find the vehicle. The ambulance crew took a woman to Nashoba Valley Medical Center from an Ayer Road residence at 9:53 a.m. At 12:13 p.m. a man called to report that there was a car parked on the side of Ayer Road with its emergency flasher lights on. Police found the disabled car and stood by while the driver awaited a tow truck. At 2:24 p.m. an officer on patrol came across a tractor-trailer unit having difficulty backing up on Stow Road and stopped to offer assistance.
Friday, June 27
At 10:26 a.m. a Blanchard Road resident called to report that a girl’s mountain bike had been left on her property and later brought it to the station. Police say the bike is still in their possession. At 10:56 a.m. someone reported finding a ring at the Still River Post Office and turned it in at the station, where it remained as of July 1. The ambulance crew transported a man to Emerson Hospital from a Trail Ridge Way residence at 11:32 am. At noon an East Bare Hill Road resident called looking for information on obtaining a no-trespass notice. A caller reported at 4:32 p.m. that a car hauling a boat trailer was parked on the side of Ayer Road with its hazard lights on. Police found that the car had pulled into the Dunkin’ Donuts parking lot to await roadside assistance. A Turner Lane resident called at 5:50 p.m. to report an apparent phone scam. Police say that, because they cannot take action until there have been three such incidents, they advised the woman to keep them informed if it happens again. At 10:35 p.m. an officer on patrol stopped to investigate an occupied car parked on the side of Ayer Road. The driver told the officer he had just stopped to have a cigarette.
Saturday, June 28
At 9:19 a.m. police were called to the scene of an accident in front of Hildreth Elementary School, where a car had attempted to pass a group of bicyclists and in the process had struck one of them. Police say the bicyclist suffered minor injuries but refused treatment and hospital transport. The driver of the car was issued a written warning for unsafe passing. The officer in attendance requested a medical evaluation of the driver by the Registry of Motor Vehicles, which police say is standard procedure in such cases. A Still River Road resident called at 7:55 p.m. to report hearing the sound of gunshots or fireworks in the area. Police checked the area but did not locate the source of the noise.
Sunday, June 29
A caller reported loud music coming from a Bolton Road residence at 12:30 a.m. Police went to the home and spoke with the owner, who agreed to lower the volume. The owner, a Stow resident, advised that his son had left the car there and would be back to pick it up. At 6:36 a.m. the ambulance squad transported a woman to Emerson Hospital from a Littleton Road residence. Someone called at 1:01 p.m. to voice concerns about a child who was skating on Stow Road with a parent, but was lagging far behind the parent, presenting what the caller said was a safety hazard. Police were unable to locate the skaters. At 1:25 p.m. a farm owner called with concerns about potential complaints about his orchard-spraying operation. A Scott Road resident called at 7:24 p.m. to report a telephone pole on fire. Fire personnel extinguished the blaze, and the attending police officer notified National Grid. At 8:01 p.m. a Whitney Lane resident called with concerns about a man she had found sleeping in her barn the previous evening. The caller told police that the man had said he was on his way to New Hampshire and had just stopped to rest. She allowed him to remain for the night, but after he left the next morning, she became concerned that he might return and wanted to alert police.
Monday, June 30
A man was taken by ambulance to Emerson Hospital from a Brown Road residence at 8:45 a.m. At 11:10 a.m. someone stopped at the station to report the apparent theft of some handmade turtle-crossing signs. At 8:36 p.m. police discovered an unoccupied car parked at the station, with keys in the ignition and a cell phone in the car. The owner, identified through a license-plate check, stated that her ex-boyfriend had taken the vehicle and she had been trying to get it back. She came to the station to pick up the car, and police issued a summons to her ex-boyfriend for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, second offense. A resident on Old Littleton Road called at 9:43 p.m. with concerns about two cars parked at the end of her driveway with the lights off. While she was on the phone with police, she told the dispatcher that the cars had just left, but police checked the area nevertheless and did not locate the vehicles. At 9:58 p.m. a Brown Road resident called to report a disturbance in progress. By the time police arrived, the woman allegedly responsible had left, reportedly headed to Palmer. Harvard officers notified Palmer police, who later apprehended the woman and subsequently turned over custody to Harvard police. Harvard police arrested a Palmer resident and charged her with assault and battery, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and threatening to commit a crime.
