The Harvard Economic Development Committee would like to thank all those who attended the Commercial District Forum on Saturday June 14. The strong turnout was great to see and much appreciated, especially on a beautiful Saturday morning. For those unable to attend, the Harvard Cable station taped the forum and will be posting on their YouTube channel.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Harvard Town Planner Bill Scanlan for his excellent presentation of the C-district. The insights, examples, and concepts Bill presented illustrated issues with the C-district today and potential improvements and pitfalls from inevitable development.
Most importantly, though, the forum created a great opportunity for many residents—especially neighbors abutting Ayer Road—to express their concerns and requests regarding C-district development. If we had more time, I am sure we could have extended the Q&A for another hour. The EDC will incorporate the many comments, requests, and action items into our mission to assist with bringing desired services to Harvard, improving the town’s image among current and potential Harvard businesses, relieving the residential tax burden by attracting appropriate revenue-generating businesses, and developing the C-district while maintaining the town’s character. We look forward to collaborating further with our neighbors and remain available any time for follow-up communications via our email on the town website.
