This week police made 19 motor vehicle stops, which resulted in six citations or written warnings and 13 verbal warnings.
Tuesday, May 6
At 8:19 a.m. a Harvard resident called the station to report a past minor motor vehicle accident. An Ayer Road resident called at 9:57 a.m. to report a dead animal in the roadway. Police notified the Department of Public Works to pick up the carcass. At 4:40 p.m. an Ayer Road resident called to report an ongoing issue with a neighbor, which most recently had resulted in a threat. Police say an officer went to the home and took a report, but determined that no charges would be filed at this time.
Wednesday, May 7
A woman asked to speak with an officer at 8 a.m. about a possible missing person. She said that she had gone to the airport to pick up her adult son, but he didn’t get off the plane. Police say the officer investigated and determined that the flight on which the man was scheduled wasn’t due in for another day. At 11:24 a.m. a Rollstone Bank employee called to report suspicions about a pickup truck that had been parked in the parking lot around 8 a.m. A caller reported at 11:32 a.m. that a tractor-trailer truck was blocking part of the roadway on Prospect Hill. An officer helped guide the truck driver as he moved the vehicle out of the way. Emergency personnel responded to a medical emergency on Bolton Road and transported a woman to Nashoba Valley Medical Center. A fire officer discovered a non-permitted outdoor fire on Slough Road at 7:24 p.m. and advised the residents to extinguish it. At 8:34 p.m. a caller reported that there was a car “parked oddly” on West Bare Hill Road. Police say the vehicle belonged to an EMT who had earlier responded to a medical call in the area. The EMT later moved the car.
Thursday, May 8
A Department of Public Works employee asked for police assistance at 8:15 a.m. to move a car from an area around Town Hall where a DPW crew was cleaning. An officer located the owner of the vehicle, who moved the car. A caller reported at 8:52 a.m. that there was a disabled vehicle on Old Shirley Road. The car was gone when police arrived to investigate. At 9:54 a.m. a West Bare Hill Road resident asked for assistance because he had locked himself out of the house he was renting. Police say the man was advised to contact the owner of the house to request another key. A caller reported at 10:54 a.m. that a truck was blocking the roadway on Fairbank Street. An officer located the owner and asked him to move it. At 10:58 a.m. an East Bare Hill Road resident called to report a bobcat walking across the front yard. Police say an officer went to the residence to investigate, but the animal was gone. Emergency responders went to a residence on East Bare Hill Road at 11:22 a.m. in response to a call for medical assistance. The ambulance transported a woman to Emerson Hospital. At 8:55 p.m. an officer on patrol performing random plate checks on passing cars stopped a car on Poor Farm Road and issued a summons to the driver for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license.
Friday, May 9
At 2:53 p.m. a juvenile and his mother stopped at the station to report that the youth had been threatened earlier in the day. Police say an officer spoke with the youth and the person who allegedly made the threat, and the situation was resolved peacefully. At 5:11 p.m. emergency personnel were called to Bromfield, where a student had sustained a sports injury. The student was taken to Emerson Hospital. An officer on patrol at 10:17 p.m. advised the occupants of a car parked at the town beach to move along, because the beach was closed.
Saturday, May 10
A Littleton Road resident called at 1:39 a.m. to report a power outage apparently caused by a tree down on a line outside. Police notified National Grid. A Candleberry Lane resident called at 4:36 a.m. to report hearing a loud noise outside. Police say the responding officer determined that the noise had come from the furnace in the cellar when the heat came on in the house. An officer on patrol at 2:38 p.m. stopped to investigate an occupied car parked at the Prospect Hill Overlook. Police say the driver was in the process of requesting assistance for his disabled vehicle. A concerned parent called at 2:58 p.m. to say that children were swimming on conservation land. Police say an officer went to the area and located the youths and advised them to move along. A Westcott Road resident called at 10:46 p.m. to report concerns about a large tree limb overhanging some telephone wires. Police notified Verizon.
Sunday, May 11
A Sherry Road resident called at 5:23 p.m. to report that there was a car in the area speeding and “peeling out.” An officer located the vehicle and spoke to the driver. Emergency personnel transported a woman to Nashoba Valley Medical Center from a Babbitt Lane residence at 8:22 p.m.
Monday, May 12
At 6:15 a.m. a caller reported a pile of brush in the roadway on Prospect Hill Road. Police say the brush had apparently blown into the road from a pile in front of a house in the area. Police notified the homeowner and stood by to watch for traffic while he removed it from the road. An officer on patrol stopped a car for speeding at 9:31 a.m. and subsequently issued a summons to the driver for speeding, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, operation of an unregistered motor vehicle, and operating with defective lights. At 3:36 p.m. someone stopped at the station seeking information about a civil matter. A caller reported at 5:28 p.m. that there was a car blocking the roadway near the intersection of Bowers and West Bare Hill roads. The car was gone when police arrived to investigate. At 5:31 p.m. a Harvard officer was called to Littleton to assist with a medical emergency.
