Bromfield sophomore Amy Hunter grabbed four golds this past week at the MidWach C League track championships hosted by Lunenburg, pulling the Lady Trojans to a third-place team finish.
Hunter defended her 2013 title in the 100 meter dash and triple jump while adding the long jump title to her cache for this year. She was joined by junior Heather Flokos, sophomore Suzy Opalka, and freshman Sarah Doben in the victorious 4x100m relay.
Other returning defending league champions were Carlisle Ferguson in the pole vault and Brianna Harte in the discus. Freshman Alex Saganich added another 10 points to the team total with her victory in the 400m dash. The girls’ overall tally of 100 points placed them behind Lunenburg (142) and Narragansett (128).
The future of Bromfield girls’ track looks bright as the majority of the scoring came from a very young squad consisting mainly of eighth- through tenth-graders.
Next up for the team is the state qualifying meet at the Divisional Championships to be held at Fitchburg State University this upcoming weekend.
