‘Mulan, Jr’ at HES
Superstar Productions will present “Mulan, Jr” at the Hildreth Elementary School in four performances this weekend: Friday, April 4, at 7 p.m.; Saturday, April 5, at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.; and Sunday, April 8, at 2 p.m. Tickets are $5 each and are available at the door. The performance is not suitable for children younger than four.
Bromfield Middle School Presents ‘Mill Girls’ and ‘School Daze’
The Bromfield Middle School Drama Club will present two one-act plays, “Mill Girls” by Elizabeth Anderson and “School Daze” by Lindsay Price, both directed by Martha Brooks. The plays will be presented in the Cronin Auditorium on Friday, April 4, at 7 p.m. and again on Saturday, April 5, at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for students and seniors, and are available at the door.

Accessing Digital Resources at Library
The Harvard Public Library will host “Digital Day” Saturday, April 5, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the library. Participants can bring eReaders, smartphones, or tablets to the library and learn how to access eBooks, eAudiobooks, and other digital resources. Staff will be on hand to demonstrate and help with questions and devices. With over 40,000 eBook and eAudiobook titles, the library has something for everyone.
Life in Boylston in the 19th Century
The Harvard Woman’s Club will present a talk by local illustrator Karen Dolimount and author Mary Fuhrer about their new nonfiction book Monday, April 7, at 12:15 p.m. at Holy Trinity Parish. The book, “A Crisis of Community: The Trials and Transformation of a New England Town, 1815-1848,″ describes life around Boylston and the choices people made in that community that ultimately brought about changes with historic consequences. Lunch begins at 11:30 a.m., followed by the meeting and presentation.
Bromfield Band Concert
The Bromfield School Music Department will present its spring instrumental concert Monday, April 7, at 7 p.m. in the school’s Cronin Auditorium. The Grade 6 Concert Band, Grade 7 and 8 Symphonic Band, High School Wind Ensemble, and High School Jazz Ensemble will perform. The concert will be conducted by Bromfield faculty member Thomas Reynolds. The community is invited to attend.
King of Jesters
The Harvard Public Library will present “Alexander, King of Jesters,” Tuesday, April 8, at 1:30 p.m. at the library. The wise fool prefers action to words, from mind-bending sight gags to amazing stunts. When he finally speaks, his audience is captivated. Bromfield Choral Concert
The Bromfield School Music Department will present its spring choral concert Thursday, April 10, at 7 p.m. in the school’s Cronin Auditorium. The Grade 6 Chorus, the Grade 7 and 8 Chorus, Middle School Select Chorus, and High School Concert Choir will perform. The concert will be conducted by Bromfield choral director Rebecca Ufema, with Nikolaus Hunt as accompanist.
Life Transitions Seminar
The Life Transitions educational series will continue with “Sex, Drugs, and Rock ‘n’ Roll” Thursday, April 10, from 7 to 9 p.m. in Volunteers Hall at the library. Three speakers will address the issues of sexuality and intimacy, prescription and recreational drug use, and the positive role that music can play as people age. Admission is free, and the event is open to all adults.
Women’s Business Network
The WBN will meet Thursday, April 10, at 7:15 p.m. at Center on the Common. Participants can choose between demonstration of social media platforms and a round table discussion group. Bring a laptop if you need help setting up your business with a Facebook, LinkedIn, Pinterest, or other account.
‘In Our Family’ Photo Exhibit
The Bromfield Gay/Straight Alliance (GSA) will present “In Our Family,” a touring photo exhibit that celebrates the diversity of family life. The exhibit will open with a community reception on Friday, April 11, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Photos and accompanying text will be displayed in the Courtyard Gallery, located between the computer graphics room and the gym, just below the library. Featured speakers at the reception will be the co-founders of the Bromfield GSA, Eric Delisle and Alix Epstein, graduates of the class of 2000.
Festival of Cultures
The Harvard PTO will host a festival highlighting the experiences of families who have lived in other countries Friday, April 11, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Hildreth Elementary School. This event was re-scheduled from March 21.
White-out Dance
The Holy Trinity Youth Group will host a spring white-out dance on Friday, April 11, from 7:30 to 10 p.m. at Deacon’s Hall, Holy Trinity Parish, 15 Still River Road. The dance is for Harvard and Bolton students in grades 8, 9, and 10. The cost of admission is $5, and there will also be a 50/50 charity raffle at $1 for each entry. White attire is strongly suggested.
Egg Hunt
The Harvard Family Association will sponsor a spring egg hunt Saturday, April 12, from 11 a.m. to noon. The hunt will be followed by activities and crafts. Concert at the Garden
The Virginia Thurston Healing Garden will present “The Saturdays” in concert Sunday, April 13, at 3 p.m. at the Healing Garden, 145 Bolton Road. The group will play contemporary folk and acoustic music. Admission is $10 for members, $15 for others. Ticket sales benefit Healing Garden programs.
Overview of Special Education
Dr. Marie Harrington, Director of Pupil Services for the Harvard public schools, will talk about Harvard’s special education programs Tuesday, April 15, at 7 p.m. in the Bromfield library.

The Brown Bag Book Club will meet Wednesday, April 16, at noon at the library to discuss “Last Friends,” by Jane Gardam. Drop-ins are welcome.
Film Studio Tour
New England Studios, a film and television production facility, will host an open house Thursday, April 17, at 5:30 p.m. The event is free, but registration is required at eventbrite.com. Search for events in Harvard, Mass., and register for the “IFMA Boston” event, “Lights, Camera, Action.” There will be two tours to choose from: one of the impressive mechanical and electrical room that makes the movie magic happen, and another of the wooden cat walk, which sits 37 feet above the sound stage.
Paths to the Poor House
The Harvard Historical Society will host a talk by author and historian Mary Fuhrer Thursday, April 17, at 7 p.m. at the Historical Society, 215 Still River Road. She will present “Paths to the Harvard Poor House,” an in-depth look at how Harvard handled the poor in the 18th and 19th centuries. From almshouse to poor farm, Harvard has a long history of helping the poor: Fuhrer’s talk will show how their treatment changed throughout Harvard’s early history.
Good Friday Walk
A 5-mile walk to benefit the Loaves & Fishes food pantry will take place Friday, April 18, beginning at the Harvard Congregational Church. Walkers can register any time between 7:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. and can walk as far as they like. To register, pick up a sponsor sheet at the library or download it from www.loavesfishespantry.org. Each walker is asked to raise at least $25; those who raise $100 or more will earn T-shirts. Walk at Brown Conservation Land
The Harvard Conservation Trust will host a walk around the Trust’s newly acquired Brown land Saturday, April 19, at 1 p.m. Participants are invited to enjoy the open fields, woods, wetlands, vernal pools, and a fantastic glacial erratic. This walk is co-sponsored by the Parks and Recreation Commission. Walkers will meet at the end of Murray Lane.

‘Magic of Opera’
A program of opera music titled “Mikhail Svetlov Presents the Magic of Opera” will be presented Saturday, April 5, at 7 p.m. at the Museum of Modern Renaissance, 115 College Ave., Somerville. Svetlov is a bass with the Metropolitan Opera. Also featured will be Harvard resident and mezzo-soprano Olga Bykhovsky. Tickets at the door: $30 adults, $20 seniors and students.

Saving Turtles
The Friends of the Assabet River National Wildlife Refuge will present “Threatened Turtles of Massachusetts: Local Communities and Schools are Working to Save Them” Saturday, April 5, at 1 p.m. at the Visitor Center, 680 Hudson Road, Sudbury.
Open House at Applewild
The Applewild School will host an open house and campus tour Sunday, April 6, at noon. The event will include information on the kindergarten through grade 8 program, the school’s commitment to helping families afford an Applewild education, and the Child Development Center, Applewild’s preschool and day care for ages 3 and 4. Applewild Summer Camp information will also be available.
Vernal Pool Walk
Rona Balco of the Friends of the Oxbow National Wildlife Refuge will lead a walk to one of the vernal pools in Shirley Saturday, April 12, at 1:30 p.m. The event is suitable for children and adults, but pets are not invited.
