WinterFest Weekend
Fruitlands Museum will host its last WinterFest Weekend of the season Saturday, March 29, and Sunday, March 30, at noon. Bring sleds, snowshoes, and cross-country skis. On exhibit: “Relics from the Pergolas” and a student art exhibit.
Talk on Hudson River Homes and Gardens
The Garden Club of Harvard will hold its monthly meeting Monday, March 31, at 11:15 a.m. at Holy Trinity Parish. The guest speaker is Adriana O’Sullivan, a recognized Dutch potter and artist who studied at what is now the Harvard University Landscape Institute. She will lead a virtual tour of five of the finest historical homes and gardens along the Hudson River, including Kijkuit, Lyndhurst, Montgomery Place, Boscobel, and Olana, plus a bonus tour of Frank Cabot’s Stonecrop Gardens in Cold Spring, N.Y. The talk will be last on the program, after the business meeting and lunch. The public is welcome, as are new members.
‘Born Again Dada’
An opening reception will be held for the art of Doug Slade Tuesday, April 1, from 3 to 6 p.m. on the first floor of the Harvard Public Library. The show, “Born Again Dada,” will remain on display through the month of April. See article on page 13.
Harvard Schools Trust Dinner-Theater Gala
The Harvard Schools Trust will host its 25th annual dinner-theater gala Saturday, March 29, starting at 6 p.m. at the Bromfield School’s Cronin Auditorium. The evening will feature music from Orff’s “Carmina Burana,” a Bach cello solo, and a production of the Sartre play “No Exit,” performed by the Bromfield Drama Society. The evening will also feature a gourmet French dinner beginning at 7:15 p.m. at the Unitarian Church’s Fellowship Building on Elm Street. Over the past 25 years, the trust has awarded more than $650,000 in grants to Hildreth Elementary School and the Bromfield School.
Coffeehouse
A coffeehouse featuring local musicians will be held Thursday, April 3, at 7 p.m. in Volunteers Hall at the Harvard Public Library. The goal is to raise $200 for the charity “Room to Read,” a project of local Honor Society students. Donations in any amount will be welcome.
World Music Group
The Center on the Common will host “Unlimited Perception,” Friday, April 4, at 7:30 p.m. at the center. The music features a blend of South American rhythms such as Bambuco and Cumbia with microtones and lyrical melodies. The band, consisting of Berklee School graduates from around the world, emphasizes improvisation and musical conversation. Accessing Digital Resources
at Library
The Harvard Public Library will host “Digital Day” Saturday, April 5, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the library. Participants can bring eReaders, smartphones, or tablets to the library and learn how to access eBooks, eAudiobooks, and other digital resources. Staff will be on hand to demonstrate and help with questions and devices. With over 40,000 eBook and eAudiobook titles, the library has something for everyone.
King of Jesters
The Harvard Public Library will present “Alexander, King of Jesters,” Tuesday, April 8, at 1:30 p.m. at the library. The wise fool prefers action to words, from mind-bending sight gags to amazing stunts. When he finally clears his throat to speak, his audience is captivated. Rolling off his tongue is a funny-sounding gibberish tongue called Grammelot. The program is suitable for children of kindergarten age and older. Registration is required at 978-456-2381. King Alex has performed world wide, including at the “Just for Laughs” comedy festival in Montreal.
Life Transitions Seminar
The Life Transitions educational series will continue with “Sex, Drugs, and Rock ‘n’ Roll” Thursday, April 10, from 7 to 9 p.m. in Volunteers Hall.
Egg Hunt
The Harvard Family Association will sponsor a spring egg hunt Saturday, April 12, from 11 a.m. to noon. The hunt will be followed by activities and crafts. Classical Quartet
The Indian Hill Music School will offer a free classical music concert Sunday, March 30, at 3 p.m. at the school, 36 King St., Littleton. Faculty members will perform works by Debussy, Persichetti, and Villa-Lobos on flute, harp, viola, and cello.

‘Magic of Opera’
A program of opera music entitled “Mikhail Svetlov Presents the Magic of Opera” will be presented Saturday, April 5, at 7 p.m. at the Museum of Modern Renaissance, 115 College Ave., Somerville. Svetlov is a bass with the Metropolitan Opera. Also featured will be Harvard resident and mezzo-soprano Olga Bykhovsky; soprano Tatiana Poletskaya; tenor Mikhail Yanenko; and baritone Mikhail Zingman. Open House at Applewild
The Applewild School will host an open house and campus tour Sunday, April 6, at noon. The event will include information on the kindergarten through grade 8 program, the school’s commitment to helping families afford an Applewild education, and the Child Development Center, Applewild’s preschool and day care for ages 3 and 4. Applewild Summer Camp information will also be available.
Scholarship Dinner Gala
The Montachusett Regional Vocational Technical High School Foundation will sponsor a superintendent’s scholarship dinner Wednesday, April 2, at 5 p.m. at the school, 1050 Westminster St., Fitchburg. Guests will enjoy the music of the ’50s and ’60s and a gourmet dinner prepared and served by students and teachers in the Culinary Arts program. The evening will also feature a silent and live auction. Tickets to win a dining room set, built by Monty Tech students and modeled on the furniture of cabinetmaker Thos. Art Exhibition at Lawrence Academy
