This week police responded to six medical emergencies, investigated four accidents, and made four motor vehicle stops.
Tuesday, Feb. 18
At 3:35 p.m. police and emergency personnel responded to a medical emergency on Bolton Road. The ambulance transported one child to Nashoba Valley Medical Center, with an Advanced Life Support paramedic on board. Police responded to the scene of an accident on Old Littleton Road, where the driver of a car heading east lost control of the vehicle and slid into a DPW truck. The driver was given a written warning for traveling too fast for prevailing road conditions and for failure to keep right. The car was towed. A caller reported a suspicious-looking vehicle at a residence on Prospect Hill Road at 5:25 p.m. Police say the vehicle checked out OK.
Wednesday, Feb. 19
Police responded to a residential alarm on Woodside Road at 8:47 a.m., but found the house to be secure. An officer on duty at 9:57 a.m. noticed a car parked too far into the roadway, creating a hazard. The officer located the owner and asked that the vehicle be moved. Harvard police assisted Boxborough officers with a motor vehicle stop in Boxborough at 11:08 a.m. At 2:54 p.m. police responded to the scene of a two-car accident on Massachusetts Avenue at Fairbank Street. The driver of one car was cited for speeding and following too closely; that car was towed. The second vehicle suffered only minor damage to the back end. Police responded to a second two-car accident at 3:08 p.m., this time near Hillside Garage, where a parked vehicle was struck by a car that slid off the slippery road. The driver of that car was cited for going too fast for prevailing road conditions. Damage to both cars was minor. At 4:42 p.m. an Abbot Lane resident called to request assistance with opening a door to give a fuel delivery person access to a fuel pipe. A resident on West Bare Hill Road called at 8:36 p.m. to report a suspicious vehicle parked on the side of the road with its hazard lights on. Police found that the car belonged to the caller’s neighbor, who had moved the car out of the way to do some snow blowing. At 8:55 p.m. a resident on Harvard Depot Road called to report that some items had been stolen from the property. After an investigation, police identified the person they believe was responsible, a 19-year-old Harvard man. They issued the man a summons to appear in court on charges of larceny over $250, larceny under $250, and vandalism. The suspect is scheduled to be arraigned at Clinton District Court. At 9:14 p.m. police were called to investigate an accident that occurred on Hynes Lane when a vehicle trying to drive up the hill slid down an embankment and struck a dumpster. No tow was necessary. The DPW was called out to treat the slippery road.
Thursday, Feb. 20
Police and emergency personnel responded to a medical emergency on Still River Road at 6:46 a.m. A man was transported to Nashoba Valley Medical Center with an ALS paramedic on board. They responded to another medical emergency at 1:48 p.m., at an Ayer Road address. One man was taken by ambulance to Emerson Hospital, also with an ALS paramedic on board.
Friday, Feb. 21
At 12:25 a.m. police responded to a domestic incident on Blanchard Road. The suspect, Noel Medina Jr. of Fitchburg, left the scene, but was later located by police and arrested. Medina was charged with domestic assault, larceny under $250, having invalid license plates, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, speeding, and having an expired inspection sticker. At 8:45 a.m. a Jacob Gates Road resident called to report a vandalized mailbox. Police and emergency personnel responded to a medical emergency on Bolton Road at 12:08 p.m. The ambulance took one woman to Emerson Hospital, with an ALS paramedic on board. At 11:35 p.m. police responded to an accident scene on Old Littleton Road, where a car skidded off the road and struck a stone wall. No citations were issued; there were no injuries; the vehicle was towed.
Saturday, Feb. 22
Police and the ambulance crew responded to a medical emergency on Craggs Road at 4:40 a.m. A woman was taken by ambulance to Nashoba Valley Medical Center, with an ALS paramedic on board. Emergency responders answered another medical call at 10:01 a.m., on East Bare Hill Road, but the patient refused treatment and transportation to the hospital. At 3:06 p.m. a caller reported seeing a car traveling on Old Littleton Road with a poorly secured mattress on its roof. Police located the vehicle and advised the driver to better secure the mattress.
Sunday, Feb. 23
At 6:45 a.m. police and emergency personnel responded to a medical call on Still River Road. The ambulance took a woman to Nashoba Valley Medical Center, with an ALS paramedic on board.
Monday, Feb. 24
An Oak Hill Road resident called the station at 11:15 a.m. to report receiving harassing text messages about a problem with his credit card. He was advised to contact his credit card provider. At 11:22 a.m. an officer on patrol checked the license plate of a passing vehicle and subsequently stopped the car. The driver was issued a summons for driving an uninsured motor vehicle, driving with a suspended registration, and speeding. The Fitchburg Police Department called at 2:06 p.m. to request the assistance of Harvard officers in locating a Harvard resident whom they believed was involved in a motor vehicle accident in Fitchburg. Police were unable to make contact with the man. At 2:38 p.m. an officer on patrol stopped a car for a stop sign violation and having a defective brake light; he gave the driver a verbal warning. At 6:17 p.m. an officer on patrol stopped a car at Massachusetts Avenue and Pond Road for speeding and issued the driver a citation. Police responded to a report of a domestic incident at a Brown Road residence at 9:53 a.m. and advised both parties involved in the verbal altercation of their rights to a protective order.
