Dance Party
The Center on the Common will host a dance party, “Dirty Dancing,” Friday, Feb. 21, from 8 to 10 p.m. at the center. Tickets to boogie down are $7 at the door. BYOB. This event was re-scheduled from Feb. 14.

WinterFest Weekend
Fruitlands Museum will host a WinterFest Weekend Saturday, Feb. 22, and Sunday, Feb. 23, at noon. Bring sleds, snowshoes, and cross-country skis.
Winter Sports Clinic
Fruitlands Museum will host a winter sports clinic with the staff of Eastern Mountain Sports Saturday, Feb. 22, from 1 to 4 p.m. on the museum trails. Participants can learn the essentials of snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. Equipment will be available for rental.
Track Wildlife at the Oxbow
Wildlife trackers Susan Fly and Donna Mackie will lead a walk at the Oxbow National Wildlife Refuge Monday, Feb. 24, at 10 a.m. starting in the parking lot at the end of Still River Depot Road. During the two-hour walk participants will look for signs of birds and other creatures. Walkers should wear boots with good traction, bring a snack and a drink, and leave dogs at home. Artist Suzan Osborn
Harvard resident and garden painter Suzan Osborn, who recently illustrated “An Eden of Sorts” by New England author John Hanson Mitchell, will share the nine paintings she created for the book and talk about the collaboration process involved in book illustration at a joint meeting of the Garden Club of Harvard and Harvard Woman’s Club. She will also share some of her other garden paintings, including some Harvard commissions. The public is invited to attend Osborn’s presentation, which will take place Monday, Feb. 24, at 12:45 p.m. at Holy Trinity Parish, following the clubs’ 11:30 a.m. lunch and a brief business meeting.
Children’s Book Groups
The Harvard Public Library will host the grade 4 and grade 6 book groups Monday, Feb. 24, from 4 to 4:45 p.m. at the library. Movie and Soup
Fruitlands Museum will continue its “Food for Thought” documentary film series Wednesday, Feb. 26, at 7 p.m. at the museum. “Eating Alabama” chronicles the story of a young couple trying to eat as their grandparents did. Admission is free; soup and bread by Chef Paul Correnty is $5.
New Session for Toddler Story Time
The Harvard Public Library will begin a new seven-week session of 20- to 30-minute story times for children ages 2 and 3 Wednesday, Feb. 26, at 10:30 and 11:05 a.m. Register with the children’s librarian at 978-456-2381. This session runs through April 9.
Teen Treat-making Workshop
The Harvard Public Library will offer a winter treats workshop for teens, grades 6 to 12, Thursday, Feb. 27, from 2:45 to 3:45 p.m. at the library. Snacks will be served.
LEGO Exposition
The Harvard Public Library will present a LEGO Exposition Saturday, March 1, at the library. Ages 3 to 5 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.; ages 6 to 8 from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.; and ages 9 to 18 and older from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Participants will bring constructions of their own design to the expo to share with others and to be judged. Register in the Children’s Room, where construction guidelines are also available. Snow date is Saturday, March 15.
Gertz Quintet
Concerts at the Common, supported in part by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, will present the Bruce Gertz Quintet Sunday, March 2, at 4 p.m. at the Harvard Unitarian Church. The trio, which recently debuted their new CD at the Regattabar in Cambridge, features George Garzone on tenor sax, Phil Grenadier on trumpet, Gabriel Guerrero on piano, Austin McMahon on drums, and Bruce Gertz on bass. John Funkhouser Trio
Center on the Common will present the John Funkhouser Trio Friday, March 7, from 7:30 to 10 p.m. The trio blends modern jazz, funk, blues, 20th century classical, Indian classical, and European and American folk music to create a funky, groove-oriented sound.
