Responding to a 911 call at 10:33 a.m., the ambulance transported a resident of Fairbank Street to a nearby, but unnamed, hospital.
Wednesday, Jan. 8
An officer stopped a vehicle exiting the Route 2 west ramp at 12:31 a.m. The driver was ticketed for failing to stop at a stop sign. A female resident of East Bare Hill Road called police at 10:27 a.m. to report suspicious activity in her neighborhood. She said two men had come to her door to sell religious literature. By the time an officer arrived, the men had disappeared. At 11:24 a.m. an Ayer Road resident complained that a suspicious auto was idling in her driveway. The driver of the vehicle was attempting to locate a nearby auto dealer. Police, the fire department, and the ambulance answered a 911 report of a motor vehicle accident near Appleworks on Ayer Road at 3 p.m. A northbound vehicle had hit a telephone pole, swung around 180 degrees, and struck a tree. The driver refused treatment. The car was towed by CBK. No citation was issued. At 4:13 p.m. the ambulance answered a 911 call and transported a female occupant of a Littleton County Road residence to Emerson Hospital. Police stopped a vehicle on Ayer Road about 5:25 p.m. and cited the Ayer driver for speeding and failing to stay within the marked lane. In a later incident an officer stopped a car on Ayer Road at 9:08 p.m. and arrested its Shrewsbury driver. The driver was cited for operating a vehicle with a suspended license. The car was towed.
Thursday, Jan. 9
A Warren Avenue resident came to the police station at 11:36 a.m. to report two incidents of ID theft that she thought might be related. Someone had run up charges on her Discover card. These were being handled by the credit card company. But later she received a call from a woman with what she described as a Spanish accent who wanted to know her bank and Social Security numbers. When the woman refused to provide them, a man came onto the phone at which point the victim hung up. The matter is under investigation. At 4:44 p.m. an officer ticketed a Clinton driver for speeding on Mass. Ave.
Friday, Jan. 10
Shortly after midnight, a neighbor reported that someone was carrying boxes from a home on Still River Road and loading them into a car. An officer investigated and found the individual was an out-of-state relative of the homeowners and had their permission to remove the items from the house. A Harvard resident reported hitting a deer on Prospect Hill Road at 5:27 a.m. There was no damage to the vehicle and DPW was called to retrieve the carcass.
Saturday, Jan. 11
A Warren Avenue man came to the station at 11:46 a.m. to record the theft of a Netflix DVD from his mailbox. He had placed the red envelope containing the DVD in his box the previous day and later found the envelope on the ground without its DVD. The missing movie is “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.” At 2:32 p.m. an officer ticketed a Harvard man for driving 14 mph over the speed limit on Ayer Road. Police investigated a 5:05 p.m. call from a Warren Avenue man whose mailbox had been vandalized. The matter is being investigated, but there are no suspects. Notice of a sparking wire on Westcott Road was phoned in by a resident at 7:33 p.m. National Grid was notified. The fire department was not required to respond. A caller reported seeing a suspicious-looking male between the ages of 20 and 30 walking on Ann Lees Road. He was gone on the arrival of an officer.
Sunday, Jan. 12
The ambulance transported an infant to Emerson Hospital with Advanced Life Support on board at 12:28 p.m. At 12:54 p.m., a resident phoned to report finding a street sign on Candleberry Lane that had apparently been knocked down some time ago. DPW was notified. Police stopped a car and arrested its Maynard driver at 2:43 p.m. for operating a vehicle with an expired license. The license had expired in 2008. At 6:17 p.m., the ambulance responded to a 911 call and transported a child to a nearby hospital with ALS on board. A 911 report of a one-car accident brought police and ambulance to Blanchard Road at 9:20 p.m. The Harvard driver was issued a written warning for failure to stay within marked lanes and was transported to Nashoba Valley Medical Center for treatment. The car was towed by Terra Nova.
Monday, Jan. 13
At 10:43 a.m. and 10:57 a.m. police ticketed two cars for speeding on Still River Road. The second of the two was driving 16 mph over the speed limit. The ambulance transported a man from an Ayer Road business to Nashoba Valley Medical Center at 11:44 a.m. In response to a 911 call, the fire department sent one engine to extinguish a car fire on the eastbound off-ramp of Route 2 at 12:56 p.m. There were no injuries. The car was towed by TBK. At 8:12 p.m. police ticketed a vehicle driven by an Ashby resident for speeding on Lancaster County Road. The vehicle was clocked at 16 mph above the speed limit. A second car was ticketed by police on Slough Road at 8:29 p.m. That car, driven by a Harvard resident, had been zipping through a residential area at 21 mph above the speed limit.
