Civil engineer, World War II veteran
Harold S. Glenzel of Naples, Fla., and Hingham passed away after a short illness on Jan. 6, 2014. He was the husband of beloved late wife Lois (Dickson) Glenzel. Harold leaves his son Steve Glenzel and his wife Katherine of Hingham; daughter Karen Bellino of Simsbury, Conn.; grandchildren Abigail of Mechanicsburg, Pa., Matthew of Hingham, Benjamin Adams and his wife Sherry of East Granby, Conn., and Jonathan Adams of Jacksonville, N.C. He also leaves great-granddaughter Elizabeth Adams of East Granby, Conn.; sister-in-law Harriet Glenzel of Athol; and cousins Richard Paul of Redding, Conn., and Beverly Rymer of Springfield, Ore.
Harold was born in Boston and was a graduate of Somerville High School. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was commissioned as an ensign after college graduation. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the College of William and Mary and from MIT in 1951. At MIT, he was a member of the engineering honor society Tau Beta Pi.
Harold worked as a field engineer, superintendent, and project manager on various construction projects in New York, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey. Between 1962 and 1988 he held various positions with New England Telephone Company, retiring in 1988 as a general manager.

A memorial service will be held at Linden Ponds Jan. 11, at 11 a.m. in the Linden Ponds Performing Arts Center at Derby Club House. Private burial will be at Bellevue Cemetery, Harvard.
