WinterFest Weekend
Fruitlands Museum will host a WinterFest Weekend, Saturday, Jan. 25, and Sunday, Jan. 26, at noon. Bring sleds, snowshoes, and cross-country skis and enjoy the great outdoors. The fire pit will be blazing, and the art gallery will be open. Admission is $5, free for museum members.
Accessing Digital Books
The Harvard Public Library will host “Digital Day” at the library Saturday, Jan. 25, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.. Bring an eReader, smartphone, or tablet, and learn how to access some of the 40,000 eBooks and eAudiobooks available to you at the library. Staff will be on hand to demonstrate and help you with your digital questions and devices.
Herbal Medicine Workshop
Fruitlands Museum and the Herbal Community of Central Mass. will present “Making Herbal Medicine the Shaker Way” Saturday, Jan. 25, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the museum. The Francis W. Scavenger Hunt
The Harvard Conservation Trust will host a family-friendly scavenger hunt at Fruitlands Museum Sunday, Jan. 26, from 1 to 3 p.m., during the museum’s WinterFest celebration. Admission is free for trust and museum members, $5 for nonmembers. Prizes will be awarded, so come early.
Life Transitions Speaker
As part of its Life Transitions series, the Council on Aging will host a talk by Jeff Cote Sunday, Jan. 26, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at the Congregational Church. The talk will focus on the principles of tai chi and their connection to mindfulness and longevity. Admission is free.
Wildlife Walk at Oxbow
Trackers Donna Mackie and Susan Fly will lead a walk at the Oxbow National Wildlife Refuge Monday, Jan. 27, at 10 a.m., starting in the parking lot at the end of Still River Depot Road. Garden Club Meeting
The Garden Club of Harvard will hold a meeting and host a talk by Cheryl Monroe Clements, “Queen of the Vines,” Monday, Jan. 27. Lunch and the meeting begin at 11:15 a.m., followed by the presentation. Cheryl is a master gardener who strives to have beautiful, pest-free gardens on her one-acre plot in central Massachusetts, where she grows many varieties of plants, vines, trees and shrubs. ‘Carmina Burana’ at Bromfield
The Bromfield School Music Department will present a performance of Carl Orff’s “Carmina Burana” Thursday, Jan. 30, at 7 p.m. at the Cronin Auditorium. The concert will feature students, faculty, and community members and will be conducted by Rebecca Ufema and Thomas Reynolds, with accompaniment by Nikolaus Hunt. Free and open to the public.
Gardner Museum Heist
The Warner Free Lecture series will host Boston Globe journalist Stephen Kurkjian Friday, Jan. 31, at 7:30 p.m. at the library’s Volunteers Hall.
