Next week, on Nov. 5, we have a special election in Harvard. There is only one question on the ballot: Do we want to authorize additional funding to properly complete the Town Hall renovation that has been worked on for the past three years?
Simply put, the project is costing more because despite a long, thorough, and inclusive vetting process resulting in compromise and six town votes reflecting the will of the majority of residents, a small group of people have persisted in challenging it. Time really is money, and the increase is estimated to impact the average tax bill about $25 per year (from approximately $125 to $150).
Restoring Town Hall is one of the things that 20, 30, or 50 years from now, we (or our kids) will look back on and say “This is one of the things that makes Harvard a special place.”

Voting will take place at the Bromfield School. Polls are open from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. and you can vote by absentee ballot by contacting the Town Clerk.
