Korean Conflict veteran, Bondo co-founder, Loaves & Fishes volunteer

Robert M. Hewson, 86, of Poor Farm Road, Harvard, died Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2013, at Massachusetts General Hospital. His wife of 50 years, Hazel H. Fladger, died in October, 2008.
Robert was born in Boston, Feb. 1, 1928, a son of the late Garfield and Hazel (Chicken) Hewson, and grew up in Winthrop. Before moving to Harvard 34 years ago, he and his wife lived in Atlanta, Ga., and Fairfield and Guilford, Conn.
Robert served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He was one of the original owners of the manufacturers of Bondo, an auto body filler. He was a vice president of sales for Marson Auto Body Supply Company. Robert and his wife were active supporters of Loaves & Fishes in Devens.
Robert is survived by a sister, Lila Taylor of Winthrop; nine nieces: Ellen Fladger of Schenectady, N.Y., Anne Fladger of Belmont, Nancy O’Connor of Saugus, Lisa Tardiff of Winthrop, Suzanne Samedo of Marlborough, Kim Rodriguez and Anne Hewson of North Port, N.Y, Suzanne Wise in New Mexico, and Gail Hewson-Hull in Costa Rica; and three nephews: Louis Fladger of Strafford, N.H., Paul Fladger in Arizona, and Brad Taylor in California. He is predeceased by his two brothers, Garfield Hewson of Hamilton and Donald Hewson of Northport, N.Y.
Calling hours were Tuesday, Sept. 3, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the T.J. Anderson & Son Funeral Home, 25 Fitchburg Road, Route 2A, in Ayer. Military honors were offered at 6:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Loaves & Fishes, P.O. Box 1, Ayer, MA 01432.
