Public forum with superintendent candidate
The Harvard School Committee invites parents and members of the community to participate in a public forum Monday, Sept. 9, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Bromfield School library with superintendent candidate Dr. Linda Dwight. Dwight is currently the principal at Hildreth Elementary School and applied for the superintendent position in July, after a previous search resulted in the position going unfilled. The one-hour session will give Dwight the opportunity to introduce herself, and then she will take questions from attendees. The School Committee will conduct an interview of Dwight following the forum, from 8 to 9 p.m. in the Town Hall. Contact the Harvard School District Office, 978-456-4140, with any questions.
A second life for Halloween costumes and concert wear
Celebration, the volunteer effort by Harvard community members and parents of Bromfield students to provide a fun and safe environment for juniors and seniors after the prom, is funded by community donations. Celebration volunteers are getting an early start on fundraising with Halloween Costume and Concert Wear sales at the Harvard Fall Festival, Sept. 14 and 15, and the Harvard Flea Market, Oct. 12.
The committee will gratefully accept Halloween costumes and accessories, as well as concert wear, including black shoes, pants, and skirts, and white shirts and blouses. The Celebration committee will resell donated items at reasonable prices to the community at the two upcoming events. All proceeds will benefit Celebration 2014.
Convenient drop-off locations around town include the Hildreth Elementary School lobby near the library; the Bromfield School office; 8 Simon Atherton Row; 29 Willow Road; 103 Bolton Road; 357 Old Littleton Road; and 78 Slough Road.
Donations are tax-deductible and do not require a receipt. Call Carrie Fraser at 978-456-9148 with any questions.
