Farm to Friend seeks more farmers
The Harvard Farmers’ Market’s Farm to Friend program is looking for more farmers to help feed neighbors in need during the harvest season. Last year, the program delivered fresh fruits and vegetables to almost a dozen people in Harvard. This year, the market would like to improve and expand the program. Many of the recipients are elderly, and Farm to Friend organizers especially need produce that does not need to be cooked.
All donations will be collected when the Farmers’ Market is open: 9 a.m. to noon, Saturdays from August 17 through Oct. 26, except for Columbus Day weekend.
Gardeners who would like to contribute gifts from their gardens should contact Kim Manning at 978-456-2721 or themanningclan@me.com. Potential recipients should contact COA Director Debbie Thompson at 978-456-4120.
