MassDoT warns of false RMV websites

Rachel Kaprielian of the Massachusetts Department of Transportation Registrar of Motor Vehicles reminds customers to watch out for websites that mimic the Registry of Motor Vehicles’ (RMV) official online branch.

The deceptive sites are typically reached by customers using online search engines. The RMV advises customers to avoid sites that reference “Department of Motor Vehicles” or the “DMV,” terms not used in Massachusetts.

Registry customers are cautioned to avoid any sites seeking to charge fees to receive basic information or forms, as well as websites offering to conduct business online for them. MassRMV does not charge to check someone’s license, registration or title status, to access registry forms and information, or to change an address. The official Registry of Motor Vehicles site is massrmv.com.
