The Bromfield boys tennis team prolonged its incredible season by beating Whitinsville Christian School in the District Finals hosted by Algonquin High School.
Led throughout the year by senior captains Drew Banker, Jaymie Davis and Kevin Sun, the top-seeded Trojans (17-1) took care of business early, with relatively easy wins for Drew Banker at first singles, 6-3, 6-3, and Kevin Sun 6-3, 6-3. Davis, in a tough match, lost 6-4, 6-4. Boasting two strong doubles teams as well, the Bromfield boys swept their opponents, allowing the team to overwhelm the Crusaders 4-1 overall. The first doubles partners Lucas Hickock and Nick Hildreth won 6-3, 7-5, and the second doubles pairing of Charlie Friedrich and Dan Poustovalov dominated at 6-1, 6-0.
The tennis team, in putting together one of the top seasons in school history, hopes to continue its success and will meet a very talented Mt. Greylock team this Wednesday in a state semi-final contest. (Results were not available at press time.)
