Lifelong Still River resident, computer programmer, gourmet cook

William R. Walton, II, 67, a lifelong resident of Still River, passed away on May 29, 2013, following a brief illness.

Bill was born in Clinton, MA , on July 4, 1945, to the late William R. and Edith (Dimick) Walton. He graduated from the Bromfield School and the University of Massachusetts. He was employed by the Boston Police Department as a computer programmer for 35 years.

A gourmet cook, Bill’s favorite things in life were skiing, summers spent on Race Point Beach on Cape Cod, fishing, his vegetable garden, splitting wood, listening to blues and folk music, and reading.

A devoted and loving husband and father, Bill is survived by his wife of 29 years, Maria (Pietrafitta), daughter Christina of Boston, and son Steven of Boston.

Visiting hours were Sunday, June 2, from 5 to 8 p.m. at St. Benedict Abbey in Still River. A private burial has been planned. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Loaves and Fishes, PO Box 1, Ayer, MA 01432
