Longtime resident, co-owned construction company
Owen R. Sponagle, longtime Harvard resident, died unexpectedly on Jan. 28 in Lowell General Hospital. He was 77.
Owen was known to family and friends as a kind and outgoing man who loved to sing, read, and play golf. He leaves his loving wife, Janet (Sweeney), to whom he was married for 41 years. He is also survived by a brother, Lewis Sponagle, of St. Croix, Virgin Islands; a sister, Louise Martell, of Billerica; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and dear friends.
Before retiring, Owen served in the Air Force, attended Northeastern University, worked for Mitre Corp., and was co-owner of B. O. J. Construction in Littleton. He was a member of Aleppo Shriners, Scottish Rite Masons, and the Sounds of Concord, an award-winning barbershop singing group.
Calling hours will be held Friday, Feb. 1, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Badger Funeral Home, 347 King St., Littleton. A funeral service will be held at the Congregational Church of Harvard on Saturday, Feb. 2, at 11 a.m.
