Strong Catholic faith, mother of Harvard resident
Lucille M. (Power) Maney, 88, of Bolton died surrounded by family on Wednesday, Dec. 5. She was the wife of the late Francis “Joe” Maney, spending 53 years of marriage together until his passing in 2002.
Lucille was born and raised in Hillside, Il., daughter of the late Michael and Phoebe Power. She was the youngest of seven and the last of the siblings to survive. Prior to her marriage she worked for the State Department in Chicago.
She is survived by five of her seven children: Dennis Maney and wife Dianne and eight children, of Massachusetts; Terence Maney and wife Lorelei, of Virginia; John Maney and wife Jennie and three children, of New York; Sister Mary Francis, Slave of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, of Still River; and Margaret (Maney) Mumford and husband David and three children, of Massachusetts. Lucille was pre-deceased by her son Timothy Maney and daughter Patricia (Maney) Cording. She also sadly leaves behind 14 great-grandchildren.
All who knew Lucille were aware of her loving gentle manner, peaceful ways and strong traditional Catholic faith.
She requested a private viewing with family. A funeral mass was held at the chapel of St. Ann’s House, Sisters of Saint Benedict Center, Still River, on Monday, Dec. 10 at 11 a.m. Burial was at Maryrest Cemetery in Mahwah, N.J., on Tuesday, Dec. 11, at 11:30 a.m. The family requests that mass offerings for the repose of Lucille’s soul and the souls in Purgatory be said.
