I was on the Board of Selectmen when Jamie Eldridge was first elected as our state representative 10 years ago and then state senator four years ago. And I know that throughout that time, Jamie has been a strong advocate for Harvard’s interests. He has worked hard to increase local aid, especially for schools; he has pushed for improved rail service, including re-establishment of the double rail line between Acton and Ayer to allow for more frequent service; and he has always been a strong advocate for the environment and assuring long-term protection of critical resource areas.
Most importantly, however, is his accessibility and willingness to listen. He is always respectful of differing opinions. He always makes the time to meet with constituents. He always seeks to find solutions for our local issues. No matter is too small or unimportant; nor, by the same token, is a challenge too large or insurmountable. In a time when politics are often seen as corrupting, Jamie stands out as a highly ethical and honest person.
I strongly urge you to join me in voting for our state Senator Jamie Eldridge on Nov. 6.
