- Thursday, Sept. 20. It’s “Massachusetts Day” at the Big E, the Eastern States Exposition. It’s a New England extravaganza with the Village Museum, competitive animal displays, rides, a daily parade and foods from around the world. The group will leave Hildreth House at 8 a.m., and the cost for the admission and van is $25. The rest of the day is up to you. The group will leave the Big E at 3 p.m. Call 978-456-4120 to sign up.
- Thursday, Oct. 4. The Boston Symphony will rehearse its evening performance, and the Council on Aging will be there to watch. This is a real rehearsal, which may include stops by the conductor and changes to the music. It is preceded by an informal discussion of the pieces to be heard. The van will take the group door to door for a cost of $20, which includes admission. Lunch will follow at the Cheesecake Factory nearby. The group will leave at 8 a.m. and should be back by 3 p.m.
- Wednesday, Oct. 10. The Council on Aging will go to Theatre III in West Acton to see “Brigadoon,” the beloved story of love across the centuries in the Scottish Highlands. The music by Lerner and Loewe features such favorites as “The Heather on the Hill” and “Almost Like Being in Love.” The van will leave Hildreth House at 6:45 p.m. and the fee is $5. Call to sign up as space is limited. Note: This theater is not handicap accessible.
