The Harvard Agricultural Advisory Commission is creating a website that will include information on Harvard farms, farm stands, you-pick operations, equine facilities, and other agricultural endeavors. Play a character at Fruitlands
Fruitlands Museum welcomes community members to help fill its mile-long trail on Thursday, Oct. 5, with the personalities of Bronson Alcott, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Mother Ann Lee, and King Philip, for instance, as well as with children who lived at Fruitlands and in the Shaker village here in the 19th century. Volunteers needed to pull water chestnuts
Volunteers are invited to help scout and pull water chestnuts, an invasive exotic weed, from the Pepperell Pond section of the Nashua River on Sunday, July 22, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Gathering baskets and maps will be provided. Nashoba Paddler will be providing a limited number of canoes for use on a “first call, first served” basis. Volunteers should wear old clothes, bring rubber dish washing gloves, sunscreen, bug spray, water to drink, and a bagged lunch. Volunteers may bring their own canoes and equipment, but will be asked to sign an insurance waiver.
Advanced registration is required; all participants must register by calling the Nashua River Watershed Association at 978-448-0299, or by emailing Martha Morgan, NRWA Water Programs Director at MarthaM@NashuaRiverWatershed.org.
