Mud season and Harvard trails
The Conservation Commission asks that trail users in Harvard keep in mind the following rules and etiquette.
The trails are vulnerable to rapid degradation in a few weeks of mud season. When the ground is thawing, frozen air pockets collapse underfoot, creating potholes, erosion, and hazards to people and horses. Use caution and restraint walking at this time of year and stay off the trails when conditions are at their worst.
Horses and bikes are not permitted on trails when conditions are muddy. Refrain from trail riding until the earth has firmed up.
Remember not to cut through fields on conservation land unless on a trail. Fields are protected for wildlife and agricultural use. Riders may pass around the periphery of fields, but may not use conservation land for rings, exercise, or jumping.
Horseback riding and trail biking are not permitted on secondary trails, designated by blue blazes, unless otherwise marked. Horses are permitted on primary (yellow) trails.

Register for March 28 Special Town Meeting
The last day to register to vote or to change your address for the Special Town Meeting on March 28 is Friday, March 16. On that day, the Town Clerk’s office will be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Celebration fundraiser
On Thursday, March 29, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Roche Bros. in Acton, Bromfield’s Celebration Committee will host a fundraising event to benefit Celebration 2012, Harvard’s alcohol- and drug-free night of entertainment held each year after the prom. The committee asks that shoppers hand their receipts to committee volunteers at the store. No further donation is requested.
