At 1:08 a.m., police checked out a vehicle that was parked behind the Bromfield School, near the fitness center. No further information is available.
Wednesday, February 15
At 5:42 a.m., police investigated a report of suspicious activity on Depot Road. It was a worker installing a piece of equipment for the town center sewer project, police say. At 11:42 a.m., Harvard Police were notified by Bolton Police to be on the lookout for a person who was spotted in that town opening the door to a home and then running off and driving away when the homeowner spotted him or her. The person was not located in Harvard. At 2:17 p.m., a resident of Haskell Lane told police a gray SUV with flashing yellow lights pulled into his driveway and then drove off. Police say they checked the area but did not locate a vehicle matching that description. At 5:54 p.m., a resident of Littleton Road reported two chocolate Labrador retriever puppies had gone missing. Police referred the call to the town’s animal control officer.
Thursday, February 16
At 6:25 p.m. Bolton Police asked Harvard Police to deliver a message to someone at a West Bare Hill Road address. At 8:55 p.m., Harvard Police helped the Ayer Police Department establish a perimeter around a building in Ayer in which, police say, a breaking and entering was in progress. The suspect was not captured at that time, police say.
Friday, February 17
At 10:13 a.m., someone came to the police department to report receiving threats. According to police, the incident is still under investigation. At 1:14 p.m., police investigated a minor motor vehicle accident on Ayer Road. According to police, one car slowed to pull into the post office parking lot and another car ran into it from behind. The driver of the second car was issued a written warning. At 11:14 p.m., a driver reported seeing a black Cadillac driving erratically on Ayer Road near the Route 2 ramps. Police searched the area but report they did not locate a car matching that description.
Saturday, February 18
At 8:27 a.m., a West Bare Hill Road resident reported waking to find someone had built a stone wall across the home’s driveway. Police say the incident was probably a prank by members of the senior class at Bromfield. No charges were made. At 4:11 p.m., police arrested an Ayer Road man for operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol (see related story, page 3).
Sunday, February 19
At 9 a.m., police checked out a commercial burglar alarm going off at a location on Ayer Road. At 12:56 p.m., the Harvard Fire Department was notified of a permitted brush fire that had grown out of control. At 4:33 p.m., a resident of Pinnacle Road told police some young people had come to her door and asked if she had a gas can. The people said they had run out of gas and didn’t have a cellphone, the woman told police. According to police, the woman said the young people asked her not to call the police, but she did anyway. Police arrived on the scene and stood by while the young people waited for someone to come and help them, police say.
Monday, February 20
At 2:05 a.m., a police officer noticed vandalism to the Harvard Public Library on Pond Road. According to police, someone had sprayed Silly String, or something similar, on the door and placed crustaceans in the book return box. The crustaceans were later identified as shrimp. The incident is still under investigation, police say.
