Before 2011 is lost in everyone’s memory and 2012 is well under way, the members of the Harvard Parks and Recreation Commission would thank all the individuals that helped us out in 2011. We depend a great deal on the help these individuals contribute. Without them some of our programs would not run and the much needed small projects would not get done. Hopefully we didn’t leave anyone out. If we did, please acccept our apologies. We appreciate all the help we get and look forward to working with everyone in 2012.
- The Harvard Garden Club, led by Kathy Jackson and Pam Marston, for keeping up the appearance of the common by taking care of the plantings, shrubs, and beds around the common, Town Hall, the old library, the schools, and the library.
- The Christmas tree lighting pulled together a small group of individuals. Royal Cregar, Dave Woodsum, and Sean Bilodeau for the lights on the tree over the past several years. Chris Green from Westward Orchards for the wagon rides, and Janice Kennedy for setting it all in motion.
- Denise Hazoury for filling in at the beach this summer and helping out as temporary waterfront director.
- Julie Sniffen for putting together and running the tennis program for us over the last couple of summers.
- Tracy Adams and Cindy Glade for being the ski program coordinators for the after school ski program.
- Jim Lee for clearing and keeping clean a skating area on the reservoir on Bolton Road.
- David Bell for running the Hershey Track Program every spring at the McCurdy Track.
- The tree warden, Christian Bilodeau, and the Elm Tree Commission. With special thanks to Bill Calderwood for staying on top of all the tree care and organizing the planting of new trees.
- Boat checkers Chris Ready and Linda Mara.
- And finally all the help donated by the Eagle Scout candidates with the projects they organized and carried out at the beach.
