Be part of a writing community. Members are from the Harvard-Bolton-Ayer-Groton-Littleton area. They meet bimonthly to provide and receive constructive, serious feedback on short story and novel development

USAG issues range-noise bulletin
The U.S. Army Garrison at Devens has issued a notice marking the following military activities that will result in increased noise.
- Monday, Oct. 17: MK19 familiarization fire, 7:30 a.m. to noon
- Friday, Oct. 21: MK19 familiarization fire, noon to 6 p.m.
- Saturday, Oct. 22: MK19 familiarization fire, 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Sunday, Oct. 23: MK19 familiarization fire, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Thursday, Oct. 27: demolitions training, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Habitat for Humanity seeks family for to-be-built Sterling home
Habitat for Humanity North Central Massachusetts is looking for a family in need of a simple, decent, and affordable home to be built on Myrtle Avenue in Sterling, Mass., in spring 2012. Those interested in applying for a Habitat for Humanity home are invited to attend one of the following information meetings: Wednesday, Oct. 19, at 7 p.m., First Church in Sterling, 6 Meetinghouse Hill Road, Sterling; or Saturday, Oct. 22, at 10 a.m., Waushacum Village Community Room, 9 Circle Ave., Sterling.
Potential home applicants and all who will apply to be considered as owners must attend one of these sessions to apply.
Habitat for Humanity builds housing with and for people in need. Habitat homes are not given away. Partner/homeowners work alongside Habitat volunteers to help build the home and at completion purchase their homes at cost with zero-interest mortgages.
Who Can Apply: Applicants must meet three criteria established by Habitat for Humanity International:
- Applicant’s current housing is unsafe or provides inadequate living conditions.
- Applicants can demonstrate a steady income, but not make enough to qualify for a standard mortgage (e.g. a family of four would have an annual of income of $24,650 to $49,260).
- Applicants must have a willingness to put in hundreds of hours of “sweat equity” in the building of their home or the homes of other Habitat families.
Habitat for Humanity North Central Massachusetts is the local affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a non-profit, Christian ecumenical housing ministry that builds simple, decent houses with people in need.
