Casting Call: Harvard Ecumenical Christmas Pageant
Preparations have begun for this year’s Ecumenical Christmas Pageant, and all children who live in Harvard are invited to participate. The pageant, which is a long-standing town tradition, is presented jointly by the Congregational Church of Harvard, the Harvard Unitarian Universalist Church, and the Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Parish, and will take place at the Harvard Unitarian Universalist Church on Sunday, Dec. 11.
This year, participants can sign up at the pageant’s new website, www.harvardchristmaspageant.com, where they can also access information about upcoming rehearsals and volunteer opportunities.
Shop at Acton plaza to support Harvard charity
The locally owned businesses at Acton Woods Plaza, at the intersection of routes 27 and 119/2A, have decided to make donating to local charities a regular event.
On the third Thursday of every month the participating businesses will make a donation to a charitable organization. Retail businesses will donate a portion of the day’s revenues, while non-retail businesses will make a pre-determined donation.
The Acton Coffee House, CambridgeWear, JoKaren Lingerie, Kitchen Outfitters, and the Woolpack will donate based on the day’s revenue. Koko FitClub will make a donation based on the amount of weight members have lifted that day. QuickCuts will donate $2 for every haircut. Enterprise Bank, First Rugs and J. Olson Jewelers will make a cash donation.
Since October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, the first donation will be to the Healing Garden in Harvard. The Healing Garden is dedicated to providing therapeutic services, educational programs, and a community of support to facilitate the healing process for people affected by breast cancer. Visit the stores at Acton Woods Plaza on Thursday, Oct. 20 to support this organization.
Said one owner: “We value and appreciate all our customers who support local businesses and this is a way that we can both show our appreciation and give back to the community.”
