The Semiconductor Environmental, Safety and Health Association (SESHA), headquartered in McLean, Va., announces that John D. Cox of Simon Atherton Row was selected to be the recipient of its Lifetime Achievement Award in May 2011.
Cox received his undergraduate and graduate degrees in chemical engineering and environmental health engineering from the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind., in the early 1970s. He holds professional engineering licenses in both chemical engineering and environmental engineering and he is certified in the Comprehensive Practice of Industrial Hygiene (CIH) by the American Board of Industrial Hygiene.
Cox was selected for this award based upon his more than 30 years of service and leadership to the semiconductor and related high technology industries in proactively addressing environmental health and safety (EH&S) issues and challenges. He has been an EH&S Manager for Digital Equipment Corporation, an EH&S director for Shipley Company, and vice president of Safety, Health and Environmental Affairs for Siliconix/Temic, Inc. He is currently president and principal consultant at Advanced Technology Solutions, LLC in Harvard, where he provides EH&S consulting services to industrial clients and academic institutions around the globe.
