On May 20, 21, and 22, more than 100 women and men, including many from Harvard and Bolton, will be walking and volunteering in the ninth annual Just ‘Cause Three-Day Breast Cancer Walk. This annual all-volunteer walk raises funds for the Virginia Thurston Healing Garden and the Gillette Center for Breast Cancer at Mass. General. We walk in memory of those that have lost their battle with cancer and in honor of those survivors that are living with it.
Over the last eight years, the Just ‘Cause walk has raised almost $1 million—all of which is passed on to our two beneficiary charities. This year, with help, we will break $1 million in donations.
This walk has several options, something for everyone: the three-day 60-mile Just ‘Cause walk; a shorter two-day 40-mile walk on Saturday and Sunday; and a 3.5 mile walk (Just ‘Cause We Can) held on Saturday in conjunction with the Just ‘Cause walk. Just ‘Cause We Can is a family-friendly walk and is open to anyone wanting to help in the struggle against breast cancer. We hope people join us in some way on this momentous weekend, whether it is to walk, donate, or volunteer.
For more information and registration forms visit www.justcausewalk.org.
To make a donation to the Just ‘Cause walk, people can mail checks made out to Just ‘Cause, indicating in the memo line if the contribution should to go to the Healing Garden or the Gillette Center. Checks should be mailed to P.O. Box 132, Bolton, MA 01740. Just ‘Cause is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization.
Anyone who would like us to walk in honor or in memory of someone whose life has been touched by breast cancer is invited to let us know.
