Lego Club
All Harvard Lego fans age 5 and older are invited to join others Saturday, Dec. 11, from 1:30 to 3 p.m. to create Lego and/or Duplo constructions. The library has some Lego sets, which club members may use, but participants who want to keep their creations should bring their own Legos or Duplos. Garden Club Greens Workshop
The Garden Club of Harvard will host a holiday greens workshop Monday, Dec. 13, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Theresa’s Church. Attendees will make arrangements to deliver to Harvard residents of limited mobility. All supplies and directions for this project will be provided, along with a sample and guidance. Members and guests will also make arrangements for themselves. Bring greens to share and small change for purchases.
Bromfield Winter Concerts
Bromfield band and choral students will perform seasonal music at two free public concerts in the Bromfield School Cronin Auditorium. The High School Concert Choir, Middle School Chorus, and Grade 6 Chorus will sing selected holiday music Monday, Dec. 13, at 7 p.m. and the High School Wind Ensemble, Middle School Symphonic Band, and Grade 6 Concert Band will perform Tuesday, Dec. 14, at 7 p.m. Anyone who becomes a Fanfare! member before the Dec. 14 concert will be entered in a drawing to win a holiday gift basket.
Snowmobile Club Meeting
The Harvard Snowmobile Club will hold its annual snow season “kick-off” meeting, turkey dinner, and raffle Tuesday, Dec. 14, at 7 p.m. at the Harvard Fire Station. Current and potential new members are welcome to come, dine, and learn about this year’s trail improvements and other activities. Club memberships will be available for $20 single/$35 family.
For Art’s Sake Gallery Talk
For Art’s Sake is sponsoring a gallery talk and conversation by Harvard artist Suzan Osborn, at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 15, at 7 p.m. at the old library. Osborn, whose paintings “Three Seasons of Gardens” are currently on display at the old library, will discuss her choice of subjects and her technique.
Early Release Day Movie
The Harvard Public Library will host an Early Release Day Movie (PG-13) for Bromfield students Wednesday, Dec. 15, at 1 p.m. at the library.
Scrabble Club
The Harvard Public Library will host a Scrabble Club for all skill levels and all ages, children and adults, Saturday, Dec. 18, at 1:30 p.m. at the library. Games can be played one-on-one, in teams, or four players to a board, using official Scrabble rules. Preregister by signing up in the Children’s Room.
A Christmas Carol Radio Theatre
The Harvard Friends of the Arts will perform the Orson Welles 1938 Campbell’s Radio Theatre version of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol Saturday, Dec. 18, at 7 p.m. in Volunteers Hall at the Harvard Public Library. Originally broadcast on Christmas Day, 1934, Welles’ radio version of the play became an annual Christmas broadcast tradition through 1953. Admission is free. Christmas Bird Count
The 111th annual Christmas Bird Count, organized by the Audubon Society, will be held Sunday, Dec. 19. Participants will count the number of each species of bird that they see or hear in an assigned area in town. Experience is helpful, but expertise is not required. Community Messiah Sing
The town’s 46th annual Messiah Sing will take place Sunday, Dec. 19, at 5 p.m. at the Harvard Unitarian Universalist (UU) Church. The longstanding tradition, now an Anne Marie Arnold Memorial event, offers the community an opportunity to sing Handel’s Messiah with professional soloists and a chamber orchestra under the direction of Ted Johnson. Both singers and listeners are welcome. Singers can bring their own score or purchase one at the door for $10. The annual event is supported by the Harvard UU Church and donations to Friends of the Community Messiah Sing. Suggested donation is $10. Light refreshments follow. Concord Band Holiday Pops
